The Story Behind Tenacious Wave

We built this so the shield can stay on. It started with Robbie—our fierce, unbreakable son. Robbie is a double transplant survivor: bone marrow and kidney. He battled a fungal infection that invaded his heart, lungs, and brain—doctors gave him days to live, urged hospice, and wanted us to sign a DNR. He lost his eyesight temporarily and had to learn to walk three times. Yet he never gave up, so neither did we. He survived. And he fought through open-heart surgery, a mycobacterium infection, a year-and-a-half war with the flu, and more than a decade of ports, central lines, NG tubes, IVs, and hospital stays.

Through it all, one truth became crystal clear: How you show up for the fight matters. It’s mindset. Tenacity. Adaptability. And what you wear is part of it—because what you wear is a signal of who you are—and it puts the world on notice: You came armed for the fight.

As a little boy, Robbie wore a cloth-and-plastic Iron Man suit to every hospital visit. Not for show. It was his shield—making him feel stronger, protected, steady. In a world stripping away choices, it let him hold onto who he was. But hospitals demand access. Exposing lines risked catastrophe for an immunocompromised kid. Too often, we cut open shirts and pants to avoid infection. Survival won. Dignity paid the price.

We became creative with access hacks, but the contradiction lingered: what if the armor could adapt—and stay on? As he grew, Iron Man gave way. His vibe turned chill, beachy. Clothes became his new confidence: armor to face storms and ride the waves. Then came the kitchen-table moment. Robbie looked up and said he wanted to study fashion design—seriously—and give back. Help others keep their dignity, strength, warmth, and identity while staying accessible for care, even when hooked up.

That’s Robbie.

He’s endured more than most could bear, yet his instinct is to contribute, to build, to lift others. Mom encouraged him. We all said yes. That spark became Tenacious Wave.

What We’re Here to Change

Hospitals already bring worry, pain, apprehension. Then the flimsy gown arrives—privacy gone, rear exposed, identity erased. You’re reduced to "patient," not person. We’re rewriting that.

Tenacious Wave creates garments born from real trenches:

  • Discreet, smart access to ports, lines, and treatments—without exposure risks.

  • True adaptability: easy changes while still connected.

  • Comfort, coverage, warmth, and personal style that let you feel like you.

Some pieces battle the hospital storm head-on. Others reclaim the beach, normalcy, confidence outside those walls. Our first design draw straight from Robbie’s journey. Our ambition? Redefine patient clothing—and prove what you wear can fuel healing, preserve dignity, and turn obstacles into momentum.

With Deep Respect

To every fighter in the quiet wars. To parents clinging to hope. To caregivers, nurses, doctors—heroes of tenderness and grit.  We see you.  We honor you.

Because no one stops being a person when they become a patient. If storms come, ride the waves—Tenaciously.— Tenacious Wave
